The hotel is 5 min walking distance from the beach and the same distance to subway station, two very popular and decent restaurants (bills & double door). Room is spacious with great view of the island and extremely quiet. I've stayed at the hotel for two nights and everything is just perfect. Hope to return to Kamakura soon.

This is a very special place indeed. The staff are so friendly and helpful with anything you need. The rooms are luxurious and really make you feel like you are staying somewhere special. The food is Michelin quality and I highly recommend you make dinner reservations, it was some of the best food we had in Japan.

Hasadera temple is a must see, especially during spring or autumn. In addition we visited Enoshima at dusk. Per end of november they have the whole garden and tower covered with small lights. When the weather allows you can see Mt Fuji in sunset. A hidden gem is Zeniarai Benten shrine. It is a natural spring tucked away between jagged rocks in a little valley. Legend goes that if you wash your money in the spring, it will multiply.

One should check one's room at check-in. Ours was definitely under-equipped: no chairs, no reading light, no handle in bathtub, very limited storage space for clothes, dangerous change in floor level. Otherwise, a very attractive hotel: nice patio and restaurant, beautiful landscaping, etc.

We loved our day in Kamakura!
We loved our day in Kamakura! Our hotel (Kamakura Prince Hotel) overlooked both the sea and Mt Fuji which was incredible. We used the Enoden to get around but mostly walked. We ate lunch by the beach, visited Kotoku-in and even went inside the Buddha (so interesting to see what it looked like inside!), then took a walking trail to Zeniarai Benten shrine which was beautiful. We didn't get to go to Enoshima unfortunately, but had a lovely time aside from that!

Nice area with some tourist attractions - but most of the touristy parts are around Kamakura station. If you go up to see the Buddha and Hase Temple, there are less tourist-style shops despite being the main attractions of the area. The tourist shops around Kamakura itself are nice but the same fare you get in the rest of Japan - cute textile items made in Japan, yukatas, 'instabae' cafes and matsuri-style food.
I would personally say the Great Buddha is somewhat underwhelming, but Hasedera is one of the loveliest temples I've been to in Japan.
It's easy to get between Kamakura and Hase using the Enoshima electric railway, and there are several beaches in the area. We personally went to Yuigahama which seemed like a nice family beach - drinking alcohol isn't allowed - unlike Enoshima beach, which is often full of drunk young people. I am often a young drunk person too, but the types of people at Enoshima beach are likely to get drunk and try to 'nanpa' (pick up) young women. Instead, Yuigahama had many families and young couples and a good security and lifeguard presence.
Along the whole coast of Kamakura and Enoshima, be careful of the birds (specifically crows and black kites) as they may try to steal food. Many crows were rifling through people's, whereas a kite stole an ice cream right out of my hand.

This very charming and picturesque old Capital of Japan is situated between mountains on one side and the beach with Enoshima island on the other side. The old history and culture is present almost everywhere with lots of beautiful buildings, temples and shrines. Ideal for a couple of days sightseeing close to Tokyo and lovely walks along the beach.
Make sure to visit Hasedera Temple, Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and Enoshima.
Guest house Kamakura Zen-ji was exceptional. Hide is a friendly, helpful and gracious host. The property is comfortable, affordable and conveniently located within walking distance of shops, restaurants and the beach. Facilities are clean and accessible and provide for your basic needs. The two story out building containing the two traditional Japanese rooms is a work of art constructed by local craftsmen. Zen-ji is the perfect name as this property provides a simple, calm and relaxed environment. I hope to have a chance to stay here again.
Clean, comfortable and quiet. Great location, within a few minutes walk of the Giant Budda, Kamakura Hasedera and numerous cafes, bars and cool shops. I loved the vibe in this part of Kamakura and would definitely stay here again. The bed I slept in was exceptionally comfortable (soft by Japanese standards) and the shower whilst small was functional with good water pressure and temperature. I was travelling by myself and felt very safe and comfortable here. I would also highly recommend the attached bar/restaurant.
The room was comfy, spacious and clean, with rough textured flooring (disposable slippers provided). Could faintly hear the sound of Enoden passing through (and street warning sirens) on and off, really vaguely and wasn't loud, enjoyed that sound tbh (Japan vibes). Walking distance from Kamakura station, Komachi-dori st and Tsurugaoka shrine. Staff members were very friendly and even recommended places to go when I was out of options, as many attractions were closed at night.
A little ways from Enoshima, this hotel was the perfect location to enjoy various regions in the area. We were able to visit Enoshima attractions, were still on the beach front and a very short tram ride to main attractions in Kamakura. The venue itself was beautiful and very comfortable, providing both a luxurious and homely feel. The bar and restaurant are gorgeous and the room was very large by Japanese standards. The breakfast was a highlight for us.
It's in a very good location for Kamakura, next to a quirky little amazing used bookstore full of treasure. It's not that hard to find, it's well-signposted. The room I stayed in was very cute and had a little balcony area where I could enjoy my morning coffee. The building is pretty cold, though it wasn't an issue with an air-conditioner, I forgot how these old Japanese buildings could get cold with timber floors and single glass doors.
* the house looks traditional and the common area has a japanese style interior (tatami mats, short-legged tables). There is a water dispenser for hot or cold water, as well as free coffee and tea.
* the owner is really friendly, helpful and has some good recommendations.
* the guesthouse was very clean and had a nice, calm atmosphere. It is close to the beach and some nice pancake-cafè.
Excellent breakfast! The rooms were super comfortable and clean. As we were 4, we split in two adjacent rooms.
You have amenities, tea, coffe for free and is really conveniently close to the station and shops.
Hotels in Kamakura are too expensive. And this hotel in Ofuna is only 10 min by train to the main attractions in Kita kamakura and Kamakura.
The owner is very hospital and willing to share you a lot about everything, speaks very fluent English. The pickup service (from and to Kamakura main station) is convinent, especially when you are traveling with kids or elders. The room is clean. The location is in walking distance to Great Budda area. Free breakfast and free water bottles.
The staff were really nice. When we were checking out there was a strong wing and it was raining. I asked for a taxi but instead got lifted to the enoshima aquarium. Thank you so much.
Also plus for foreigners wish tattoo. Ofuro is private use .
so no worries. We could enjoy hardly available for us japanese sentou
Incredibly polite and friendly staff. Great location near convenience stores, restaurants and train station. Hotel decor was nice balance of traditional Japanese and modern. Room was large and comfortable. Lots of great amenities. Free coffee and tea morning and evening in the lobby. Laundry facilities available.
It was my first time being at a Japanese-style room and it turned out to be quite amazing.
closed to the railway station and attractions. Only several-minute walk to the closest beach. Friendly for those who wanted to get up early to see the sunset.
It is a beautifully clean and peaceful, modern Japanese-style guesthouse. The neighbourhood is very quiet and relaxing, and yet close to the beach and also tourist sights and restaurants and so on. Very walkable and close to the train station.
The owner was the best part of the stay. He couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating. Breakfast was very good, typical Japanese and was cooked by the owner. The guest house had only 3 rooms therefore limited number of guests.
The staff are so friendly. They were playing Japanese poker after their duty ended and I taught them how to play Texas hold'em. Quickly Sora took all my chips! Impressive.
Otherwise the staff were so kind, I will miss them.
This is a wonderful place. Host is a kind, talkative person. The japanese breakfast is amazing and tasty. If you want to travel to Kamakura, here will be your best choice and experience.
